NBC Sports has announced that Leigh Diffey will replace Rick Allen as the lead commentator for the NASCAR Cup Series. Diffey, a veteran motorsports commentator, has been with NBC Sports since 2013, primarily covering the network's IndyCar Series coverage. He has also worked as a pit reporter for NBC's NASCAR coverage since 2015.
Diffey's promotion to the lead play-by-play role is a reflection of his experience and talent as a commentator. He is known for his knowledgeable and enthusiastic approach to broadcasting, and he has a deep understanding of the sport of NASCAR.
