Early Life and Career
Diosdado Cabello Rondón was born on April 15, 1963, in Maturín, Venezuela. He joined the Venezuelan military and rose to the rank of lieutenant. In the 1990s, he became involved in politics and aligned himself with the Bolivarian Revolution led by Hugo Chávez.
Role in the Chávez Government
Under President Chávez, Cabello held several key positions, including Minister of Infrastructure and Governor of Miranda state. He was also a close confidant of Chávez and played a crucial role in consolidating the Bolivarian Revolution.
Current Political Career
After Chávez's death in 2013, Cabello became the First Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV). He was also elected to the National Assembly and served as its president from 2015 to 2017. Cabello has been a vocal supporter of President Nicolás Maduro and has played a significant role in the government's response to the political and economic crisis facing Venezuela.
