PSG executes reverse Remontada to down 10-man Barcelona and reach Champions League semifinals
Mbappe inspires PSG to a pulsating 4-1 victory
French giants overcome first-leg home loss to reach last four
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have executed a stunning reverse Remontada to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League, reaching their first semi-final since 2021. The French giants became the first team in 25 attempts to overcome a first-leg home loss, triumphing 4-1 at the Camp Nou to secure a 6-4 aggregate victory.
In an electrifying match in Catalonia, Kylian Mbappe was the inspiration for PSG, scoring a hat-trick to lead his team to victory. The French forward opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, taking advantage of a defensive error by Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
PSG took further control of the tie when Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo was sent off for a second yellow card in the 40th minute. The home side were unable to recover from this setback, and Mbappe struck again in the 65th and 85th minutes to complete his hat-trick and put PSG firmly in control.
Barcelona did manage to pull one goal back through Lionel Messi in the 77th minute, but it was not enough to prevent PSG from progressing. The French champions held on to their lead to secure a famous victory and book their place in the semi-finals.
This is a significant achievement for PSG, who have been chasing Champions League glory for years. They will now be confident of going all the way and lifting the trophy for the first time.
